Our Organization

WEAVE — Weaving Education, Arts, Voices & Equality is a non-profit organisation founded on the belief that a more just, democratic and inclusive society can be built through education.

Our name embodies our methodology: a participatory act of weaving. By connecting schools, vulnerable communities, and diverse perspectives through experiential arts and non-formal education, we build inclusive spaces where young people actively shape the dialogue, dismantle stereotypes, and step forward as equal citizens and peace ambassadors within their communities.

At the heart of our work are human rights, human dignity, equality, non-discrimination, democracy, peace and social inclusion.

Through experiential school programmes, community-based arts and innovative educational resources, we translate human rights education into practice. By utilizing tools like cinema and oral history alongside targeted research, we create transformative spaces for dialogue, active citizenship, and peacebuilding among youth.

We work alongside the formal education sector, grassroots civil society, cultural bodies, and academia in Greece and internationally, forging strategic synergies that translate research, non-formal learning, and artistic practices into sustainable social change within school communities.

At WEAVE, we believe that human rights should not exist solely within legal and institutional frameworks. They need to become knowledge, lived experience and everyday practice.

This is why we approach education as an active and participatory process. Our aim is not simply for people to know their rights, but to be able to recognise inequalities and discrimination, challenge stereotypes, engage with different experiences, express their own perspectives and participate meaningfully in social and democratic life.

We bring together education, research, culture and the arts, drawing on experiential, participatory and creative approaches. Film, visual media, storytelling, oral history, theatre and other forms of artistic and cultural expression become spaces in which different experiences meet and starting points for dialogue around identity, diversity, stereotypes, inequality and human rights.

At the same time, we invest in research and evidence-based practice to ensure that our initiatives respond to real social and educational needs and can generate meaningful and measurable impact.

We envision a society in which every person can live with dignity, freedom and equality, free from discrimination and exclusion.

A society where diversity is not a reason for division, but a source of knowledge, creativity and growth.

Where people know their rights, respect the rights of others, have access to knowledge and culture, can freely express their voice and participate actively in the decisions that affect their lives.

We envision communities that do not fear diversity, but make space for it — and we believe education, art, dialogue and participation are the threads with which such a society is woven.

WEAVE's mission is to advance human rights, human dignity, equality and social inclusion through education, research, culture and active participation. We design and implement initiatives that:

Our goal over the next 3 years is to engage, empower, and train 5,000 children, youth, and educators across Greece through participatory workshops and arts-based initiatives centered on inclusion, equality, and anti-racism.

Leveraging tools such as cinema, oral history, and the visual arts, we aim to build safe spaces for dialogue across at least 50 student communities, cultivating empathy and active citizenship in practice.

WEAVE aims to create a dynamic space where education, the arts, research and civil society come together, united by a shared commitment to human rights and equality: to bring together people whose paths might otherwise never cross, to make space for stories too often left unheard, and to build partnerships that leave a lasting contribution.
